Pedestrian Summit 2004
How walkable is your community? Everyone benefits from walking but walking needs to be safe and easy. This one-day summit brought together pedestrian advocates to explore the challenges facing current programs and projects and help identify the gaps that still exist. Because so many communities have been designed around the automobile, pedestrian advocacy groups have been developed to present an alternative vision of community life and development. This community-driven event broke into two different breakout sessions.

Small groups were formed for each session. The first session’s goals were not to solve the problem but to get to the root of why the problem exists. It was up to the groups to come up with three key challenge statements. This day-long event held on November 6 at Portland State University was a positive way to approach the national problem. She knew she could develop a program that people could stick with. The website offers training tips, a newsletter, and you can sign up on the Walk Club, which tracks your mileage, offers a chat room, and much more.

Blist-O-Ban™ Introduces New Shapes and Sizes

One of the new shapes focuses on a common problem reported by hikers and walkers: the toes. The bandage for toes is designed for a small area of the skin, where users need the versatility of a smaller bandage to address blisters in hard-to-reach places. The technology works through the patented BursaTek™ technology that uses the Blist-O-Ban™ gliding dome to stop friction and reduce pain in blisters and hot spots. It’s as if the bandage were part of the skin’s surface. For more information logon to www.sammedical.com.
