Eugene Marathon and Expo
May 2-4, 2008

The Second Annual Eugene Marathon is a premier distance running/walking event in “track town USA” which includes the marathon, a half marathon, 5k, and Kids Marathon. The courses are fast, flat, and scenic, taking participants through or next to 12 parks and miles of beautiful trails along the Willamette River.

The inaugural Eugene Marathon in April 2007 brought the 26.2 mile distance back to the Mecca of running after over a 20-year drought. Organizers made sure that the event was not just for the running enthusiast, but for walkers too. The course is open for eight hours so that every walker can enjoy the beauty that is Eugene.

Participants in 2008 can expect pleasant spring temperatures in the low to mid 60s, entertainment at every mile, Nike performance fabric T-shirts, keepsake finisher medals, crowd support that only the knowledgeable Eugene sports enthusiasts can express, and countless memories to cherish for a lifetime.

Make the Eugene Marathon a family event — there is something for everyone! Enjoy the weekend’s many festivities including the two-day expo, Saturday morning pancake breakfast sponsored by Krusteaz, Saturday afternoon speaker series, evening Pasta Party, Spectator Zones with bands and food, the post-race awards ceremony, and much more. Don’t miss this opportunity to walk (or run) in the footsteps of legends!

North Olympic
Discovery Marathon

June 8, 2008

Why choose the North Olympic Discovery Marathon (NODM)? First is the now-famous course. The NODM is a beautiful point-to-point course on the Olympic Discovery Trail, WA. You will be off the trafficked roads on the beautiful, paved Rails-to-Trails trail. The final five miles of the walk are right next to the Straight of Juan de Fuca with Vancouver Island, BC, off in the distance. As a walker the race organizers know the time and effort you put into your training, not to mention the number of hours you are out on the course the day of the event.

You deserve to be treated well on race day. The NODM provides walkers the amenities they will need. Walkers are allowed to start a full two hours prior to the runners. NODM provides transportation for walkers to the start from Port Angeles and back to Sequim after the walk.

Unique, exciting water stops are available approximately every two miles. This year they will be increasing the already significant number of portable toilets on the course specifically because the walkers requested the increase. Walkers will receive a shirt, medal, and unparalleled treatment at the finish. Since walkers start two hours prior to the full and half marathon starts, the finish area is still vibrant and exciting.

The event is so walker friendly that their website has a special page for walkers, visit www.nodm.com/pages/walker’s_page.htm
for more information, start times, aid
stations, and more or call 360-417-1301.
